With the US bond market flashing recession warning, the stocks rally is bound to come to a grinding halt. In a perfect re-run of the preferred yield curve recession models, the 10-year US treasury yields slipped below the three-month rate for the first time since 2007. Historically, an inverted yield curve - where long-term rates fall below short-term - has signalled an upcoming recession. This is suggesting a 30-35 percent chance of a US recession occurring over the next 10‑18 months. But it could mean an opportunity for Indian investors to pick up stocks cheaper.
