As much as 15% of total option trade volume on NSE is now happening in weekly options, as the newly-launched instrument gains popularity. There has been a steady shift in bets from contracts that expire every month to these shorter-term options. In a way, these options are more efficient as they are less pricey, premiums adjust very quickly to evolving developments and they can be used to hedge portfolio risks better.
